Description
Gabes is a mixture of old and new, its main appeal being the historic old quarters of Jara, Boulbala and especially Mensel where there are maze-like alleys, mosques and lively markets. This is where the Sahara desert begins.
Has a big commercial phosphate port to the north, and a smaller fishing port in town.
Warning: you must check-in even if you have already been cleared into the Tunisia.
