Arbatax (Port of entry)

Country: Italy

Moor: there's free quay space, or a marina. A suitable place for wintering afloat or ashore. There is not much to do in the hamlet but the marina is a great place to rest and a way of cutting the sailing trip to the south in half, avoiding night sailing.
Anchor: No anchoring in the harbour south of a line from the outer mole and the small fishing harbour in the SW corner.
Ashore: all supplies can be found in Arbatax, or in Tortoli, a few miles inshore. The shipyard covers all types of repairs, and there are frequent buses to Cagliari.  Ashore:  The mountains surrounding Arbatax marina are really beautiful.

The Green Train runs from the Arbatax station near the marina to Giaro in the mountains. 3.25 hr journey leaves at 08:00 and returns at 19:30 hrs. There is an optional extra tour which returns at 17:30 hrs. This option cost a total of 45€  But takes in a whole lot more interesting places. Train return ticket 21€.

Very friendly staff at the marina and great prices when we were there in May (30 euro for 13.4m boat). The only down was that we couldn't get any hot water in the showers.

Not sure that there is a free quay anymore.
