The customs office is on Rue de Charles de Gaulle. Your passport should be valid for at least 6 months. The friendly officer will make a copy of your passport(s) and ship's papers. The procedure is quick, simple and free of charge
Anchor: on the other side of the river, good holding in 6 m depth. Better than the place described thought the tidal stream is stronger. Anchoring between the 3rd jetty and the bridge as described in the pilot guide is no longer possible (military access the ramps located just inside the place of the described anchorage).
Ashore: the Leader Price supermarket said to be situated behind Nautic Auto is probably no more. We could not find it and the customs personal did not mention it when we asked of a nearby supermarket. He proposed the Super U in the north east part of town. Free water (in cans) from the pontoons. Can leave your dinghy there too (on the up-river side of the seaward pontoon and to lock it on).
There are assorted mini-markets and a good vegetable market as you walk the 1km to the roundabout at the end of Rue Charles De-Gaulle (the main road into Kourou). 100m on the left oft the roundabout there is a fuel station and a reasonably sized supermarket.
Emergency repairs may be possible if the help of technicians from the French space centre can be enlisted.
