An old and beautiful Mediterranean city protected by a set of Pisan fortifications.
Moor: over a mile from town centre are two privately run marinas just east of the yacht club.
- Marina Del Sole is the cheaper, rather idiosyncratic (some would say "chaotic") but popular for wintering and for live-aboards.
- more expensive, Marina di Sant' Elmo is efficiently run and restricts what work can be done on the boat. Both have large hard standing areas, sailmaker and rigger to hand.
- Porto Karalis
Ashore: great walks, fine restaurants, typical bars on paved streets and enough attractions to keep you in town for days.
Don't miss: the medieval Castello (Citadel) and its fantastic grandstand views (try the view from the Bastonie San Remy), the National Archeological Museum, and the Roman amphitheatre.
