The port of Alexandria (Al Iskandariyah) is one of the principal ports in the Mediterranean and extends up to 7 miles along the low shore. It comprises of El Dikheila harbor, at the SW side; Al Iskandariyah harbor, in the middle; and Eastern harbor, at the NE side. The inner approaches to the main commercial harbors lie between Tabiyet el Abbasiya and Ras el Tin, and are encumbered by a line of reefs and shallows about 1 mile wide, through which four entrance channels pass. There is a dangerous wreck 5.5 miles WSW of Ras el Tin Light.
