Stern to the town quay offering reasonable shelter from meltemi; some chop works its way in and the wind blows across the quay from the west so lay plenty of chain.
The best spots are as far east as you can get in. Beware shoal area as you approach the beach. Keep away from the two ferry ramps to avoid wash as the ferries come and go during the day.
There are lots of shops and tavernas along the quay and a trip to the old town up the hill is a must, as is the spectacular monastery on the other side of the island. We rented a scooter to get here for 24hrs for 15€ (from Auto Auto Thomas).

We hid here for a few days during a meltemi and the shelter was OK. The facilities ashore, and the local attractions, were excellent.
