The old town of Umag on the peninsula at the southern end of the bay Piran, while not the most attractive of the Venetian-style towns in Istria, is nevertheless worth exploring.
To check in first go to police with necessary papers. Then go to port authority. English spoken.
Ashore: a number of bars and restaurants on the S side of the peninsular with good views over the sea. Marina restaurant good as is Da Lorenzo and Konoba Punta in street behind the marina. On the dock almost opposite KP there is a simple fish restaurant frequented by locals.
