A large marina in the main town of the Azores. There is almost always space on the finger pontoons in the western section of the marina, so the routine is normally to take a suitable sized berth and walk over to the office to check-in. There is a reception quay and fuel in front of the office (ahead as you enter the eastern part of the marina). Despite the impressive breakwaters this marina is rarely free of surge and stout mooring lines will be needed. However, the dangerous swells reported in the past seem no longer to be a problem. Small chandlery just N of the office. The town is large, cosmopolitan with excellent restauants (don't miss "A Tasca"), shops and a really good produce market.
