Description

Excellent holding in 12-15 ft over sand. We withstood SSE 40knt gale here. In calm weather, it is a good idea to set up a stern anchor with the main anchor facing out to diminish any swell effect that sometimes rolls into the bay. It is a very nice place, unfortunately, there is no secure place to leave the dingy, we used to drag it up the beach, which always worked.

On the north side away from the tourist beach with car park I call it moonscape bay. My favourite nature anchorage in Malta. By the tourist beach you can leave a dinghy near the slipway but my dinghy and outboard were stolen a few years ago so lock it somehow. You can also leave dinghy more safely on the south side by the boathouses and walk round to the main road. Lovely coastal walks around here.

Moonscape bay side offers good and delightful protection from NW winds but if they are strong and prolonged don't stay as a dangerous swell can build up.

If you want fresh supplies Mgarr town is in walking distance up the road. Bakery, fruit shop, restaurants etc.
