Description

This Island is almost all surrounded by beaches of fine sand and white, which contrast with the blue of warm and crystalline waters. To walk there means to take refuge in a semi-wild world, which invites to the rest and the adventures of the diving, to discover the richnesses of the marine fauna. The island is nicknamed Turtle Island because it is home to a strong community of this species that reproduces massively well protected.

Visiting yachts are rare here and and theft not a problem.

Anchor: 24 m at about 0.3 MN SW of Fort Sao Jose. Protected from NE dominant winds.

Ashore: fish market.

Don't miss: the fort built in the 18th century to protect Maio from the assaults of the many pirates. You can admire the guns still there, the cathedral and the colorful houses. It is a city from another era where goats and cocks roam freely.
