Large, friendly fishing village just south of the volcano of Soufriere. The bay is very green and beautiful, with palm trees hanging over the water.
The passage between Chateaubelair Island and the mainland (Petit Bordel) looks impressive but is easily navigable (min 10 m depth).
Warning: reported armed robbery from yachts in the past (see Noonsite for more information).
Anchor: with a north swell running this anchorage will become uncomfortable or even be untenable.
- good holding in front of the village but poor protection though you may get Wi-Fi from one of the bars ashore;
- in the northeast under the protection of the cliff in 7 m.
Ashore: a couple of restaurants and a bar on the beach front, and in town is a gas station, mini-market and bakery.
Don't miss: great snorkelling here off Chateaubelair Island and the town is a good starting point for those that want to walk to La Soufriere and see the waterfalls and rock carvings which are believed to have been left by Carib Indians.
